We provided management services to director Elegance Bratton by developing strategies for launching Elegance’s directorial career. He is now known for his award-winning autobiographical work, the feature film The Inspection. Variety Magazine named him “10 Directors to Watch” in 2023.
We served as Executive Producers on his first postgraduate professional work, My House, and his feature-length documentary, Pier Kids.
My House, Vice TV’s 10-episode docuseries, exclaims stories about the bodacious ballroom circuit culture in New York City. The series received the Mipcom Diversity Award in Cannes, France, and was a GLAAD Media Award nominee. Described by the New York Times as “... following in the footsteps of Jennie Livingston’s groundbreaking 1990 documentary Paris is Burning.” The show explores an intimate portrayal of the real-life dramas of the house ballroom circuit, with its influence felt in fashion, pop music, and television.
Pier Kids capture homeless queer and trans youth of color, their friendships, and made families while withstanding extreme abuse and working to create autonomy in their lives. It aired on PBS’s POV and received the Independent Spirit’s Truer Than Fiction Award.
